Joe Bryant played in the NBA for eight seasons, from 1975 to 1983. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers, and Houston Rockets. After his playing career, he became a coach in the WNBA, where he coached the Los Angeles Sparks from 2005 to 2007.

Joe Bryant was a talented basketball player and coach, but he was best known as the father of Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest basketball players of all time, winning five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. He tragically died in a helicopter crash in 2020 along with his daughter, Gianna, and seven others.
